Killer's Home!

Dear Doll-face,

I wanted to give you a quick update on the small gray cat.  He still has some inflammation from his UTI, so the vet gave him a shot with one more strong dose of antibiotic.  He will need to finish this first bag of prescription cat food, and then move to a different food indefinitely. He can no longer be fed with the other cats, our days of free feeding are over. They will have to eat at certain times for the rest of Killer's life.

The vet is also strongly against him being allowed to be outside, for fear of him supplementing is diet with game. This is also because the vet explained that just yesterday he had to give major surgery to a pet who got into a fight with a stray.  For now Killer can't be outside because his wound needs more time to heal, but Michael and I will have to discuss what we think is best for him soon.

He's also going to need to keep the cone on for a while longer. He keeps picking at his scabs, and he needs to let it heal, so cone for at least a few more days.  We're also going to have to keep treating his tail with the antibiotic cream until it heals up, to keep out infection from when he does manage to get to it and rip off a scab.

In the end, this is how it came out.

First vet trip:
Urine Analysis $20
Actual vet visit $20
Overnight $40
Medication $40
Special food $40

Second trip:
Stitches, cone, cream: $210

Third Trip:
Original surgery covers repeat stitches due to cat being dumb, thank goodness.

Fourth Trip:
Overnight $40
Urine Analysis $20
Vet Consultation $20
Shot: $20

Our total cost of Killer getting sick, then hurting himself because he was so desperate to get his food because he didn't like not being free fed:

$470.

I'm now going to look into how to get him into the cat food/pet med/animal care commercial business... and with any luck maybe a sitcom director will choose him to be a character's pet.  Killer needs to pay his debt.

Picking up the slack.

Dear Dollie,

The last time I posted was the last time I had a day off. Hahaha... yeah.. and I work one more day before I get my next one on Thursday. I keep working more days in a row than I am supposed to.. and I keep wanting to say something about it, but I need the money too much. (Killer is an expensive cat)

Speaking of which, he should be home tomorrow. He got his stitches out today, but we were waiting on him to pee for a urine analysis to make sure the UTI cleared up.

I got my plane ticket! I fly out of Moline International on June 6th at 8 in the morning, and we should get back home on June 9th or 10th. I'm super excited, I can't wait for a nice mini vacation.

I got to rent the Hobbit and Les Mis, it made me happy, even though I barely had a chance top  watch them between working so much... Since Sunday night my life has literally been, work, come home, sleep, work, come home, sleep, work. When I got off from my morning shift I only spent one hour actually awake before I went back in this afternoon. I can tell I've been working more than usual because even L cat has taken to sleeping near me because he misses me pestering him. I am just exhausted. In fact, I even feel an exhaustion migraine coming on, and I've already drugged myself for it.

Anyway, you should encourage your mom to respond to your brother's emails.. because it is important.

Miss you, love you... I am so sorry I have been so tired and haven't written much this year... I know I promised to try and get better at this again.

Time Well Wasted

Dear Doll-face,

Lemme tell you what your brother and I did today...

You see, I downloaded a blank neighborhood from the Sims Exchange to fill up how I choose.  I got sick of constantly having to place and replace lots all the time in base worlds.  I have spent the better part of my last few days off creating content in this world.  Also, yesterday (Monday) on my actual day off I entered a foundation challenge where I downloaded a foundation, and then had to build on top of it.

This is the house I built. Check out "The Sim Supply" on
Facebook to see the contest information.

Yesterday while I was working on the foundation Michael said he wanted to make a dragon library on it... but instead he and I spent most of today working on a library lot for my blank world together.

This is our 40x40 blank lot, just starting to be built upon.
This is the beginning of an idea.
Here is our new project starting to take a shape.
We are fine tuning the first outline of our beast!
To get the right shape, we needed to add more stories to the building.
You can really start to see our new friend in this picture!
As you can see here, he is green, and is napping on some gold.
We then added windows and doors to the building.  The red windows you see on his
mouth now had to be removed.  They corrupted the game file. It took
multiple hours for us to figure out why we kept freezing
then crashing to desktop.
Finally we got the basic layout, along with wallpaper and flooring.
The second story has a bunch of computers and a small cafe! (The downstairs,
which we got too tired to photograph, was just a ton of bookshelves, a magical hidden
room, and a kids learning/play area.)
Here you can see we added some art easels and decor to the balconies.
This is our completed library at night time.
A similar shot, during waking hours.
From another angle.

We named it Biblio de l'Ancien Dragon Vert.  This is the full story behind our lot, which there wasn't enough room for on the exchange:

A long time ago a young explorer named Sophia was marooned on Affinity Island.  She encountered a green elder dragon who swallowed her whole.  However, because Sophia rolled high on her charisma and intelligence checks, the elder dragon quickly became enchanted with her naivete and kept her prisoner deep in his stomach.  He taught her many things over the years, and even took to swallowing books whole so she had things to read while he slept.  Lore says that the Elder Green Dragon fell asleep right here, and as his body grew cold Sophia used the magic she learned within his gut to transform him into a great library.

(You are often the target of many Sim adventures... and the story behind a lot of community buildings, like the fire department named after the brave Sophia, epic firefighter!)

WE LOVE YOU! IMMA SLEEP NOW! (We may or may not have spent over 12 hours working on this today.)

Ze Curse

Dear Doll-face,

The birthday curse lives on.  Someone died just three hours before my birthday started. It has been pretty miserable at work since.

However today is St. Patty's Day.. so I'm going to try hard to start over.  Beyond that.. your brother owes me money about a bet that I don't really trust to put on the internet.

It was super entertaining though... can't wait to tell you about it.

Poor Tail/Poor Us/Poor Bank Account.

Dear Doll-face,

So we have spent almost 400 dollars in two weeks on one cat.  This didn't include the second surgery, they didn't have the amount when we picked him up so they told us to come back later and pay.  That's going to have to wait until Tuesday when I get my pay check and after we pay our bills.  Even then we may need to set up a payment plan for it.  I'm expecting at least another 250 in vet bills between the second surgery and his next urine analysis from his UTI/Kidney stones to make sure they are indeed clearing up.  So, our bank account is quickly draining.

Poor us, grandma and grandpa are coming to visit Sunday for my birthday.. and I've felt terrible.  One of my individuals is sick, and I think I am catching it.

Poor tail.  He slept in the downstairs room alone last night.  We can't trust him without supervision.  We can't trust the other animals around him. When I went to feed him this morning he was all purrs.  He was clumsy  but that's because he can't see like he could without the cone. He was very excited to get head pets and his food.  He doesn't like it when we pet him where he can't see.

Here is a sad picture of what his tail currently looks like:

What you can't see in this picture is that there are some open red sores on the other side, and from this angle he is hiding most of the stitches   It doesn't look terrible, but it looks painful.  We have to put a cream on it twice a day to help with the healing and to help keep out infection. He's also got some sore toes.  The poor little guy really managed to get himself hurt. If the circulation to the tip doesn't improve he may lose the end of his tail.  It seems responsive.  While he was calm this morning I managed to pet it.  It feels warm, so it's getting blood. As far as human limbs go, that's good news so I am thinking it can't be too different for cats.

Anyway, I am going to eat some lunch and finish getting dressed for work.  I've got a decent sized shift this evening, and I managed to double my shift last night by swapping with someone.  Take care of yourself.  We'll keep you updated on the poor kitty.

Let's talk about the cats

So that derpy grey cat got himself some kidney stones.  So he has to stay inside, and we have to feed them once daily and not free feed them.

So the other morning the knocked over the end table the food was in to get at it.  No big deal, we moved the food.

They knocked it over again today, but they got no food.  Also Killer hurt his tale.  The skin ripped open and pinched off part of it, exposing the muscle beneath it.  The injury was about the size of my thumb.

He is now spending the night at the vet's getting sutures, because it will get infected if they don't stitch it up.

You need to come back and have a chat with the grey cat.

Also I feel awful because he did this in the wee hours of the morning, and he laid on me while I read for an hour, and bled on my shirt, but I didn't notice until later when I pet him and I accidentally hit the injury. I feel like a bad mom.

Sorry for the lack of blogging, things have gotten out of control lately.  I have an individual who has left the house permanently.  She is dying of heart failure.  Also Michael's birthday happened.  Also I've been working weird hours off my normal, so I've not been keeping up rest wise.

I miss you terribly.
